Canadian households, corporations and governments engage in a variety of transactions with economic actors in other countries every day of the year. 8.1 IntroductionĬanada’s economy is wide open to the rest of the world. This chapter links primarily to System of National Accounts (SNA) 2008 Chapter 26 and to the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual, sixth edition (BPM6). The chapter focuses on the internal structure of the balance of international payments and international investment position, the relationship of these accounts to the rest of the Canadian system of macroeconomic accounts and how these accounts are used to interpret economic developments.
